Bible Text 101 2-5 Minutes ... A little bit of faith goes a long way! Question: What are the two parts of The Bible called, and what language were these books first written? Answer... Old Testament/Hebrew Scriptures; These are written in Hebrew. (There are a few parts in Aramaic.) Hebrew is a language you read right to left. New Testament/Christian Scriptures; These were written in Greek. Why it matters? (Why do you think it matters?) When people say, "The Bible says..." it is important to remember it wasn't written in English. There are lots of translations and paraphrases of The Bible. Now What? Do you know the difference between a translation and paraphrase? Check out this page to see some popular translations and paraphrases.
