Priscilla

Light a candle and remember the presence of God is with you.
Cut out the pieces to help you tell this story.
There are times and places when women are treated as less important than men.
This is not right. God loves us all. (Pause.)
Yet, my name is still a part of God’s story.
Your name is also a part of God’s story. (Draw a heart with your finger.)
My name is Priscilla.
Place Priscilla in front of you.
Paul, who wrote many letters in the Bible, was one of my closest friends. My name is often found in his letters.
Take time to look at the Bible timeline at the bottom.
My husband’s name rhymes with mine, Aquila.
(That is strange! It still makes me giggle.) Together we spent lots of time helping Paul and others teach about the love of Jesus Christ.
It was not easy.
Many people did not want to hear about Jesus, especially from a woman!
… … … Not Listening… … Not Listening… … … Not Listening… … … … … … Not Listening… … …
… … Not Listening!
Yet, both Paul and Aquila supported me, and I supported them. We traveled to many places with both men and women. Paul wrote us letters when we were not together.
We made many friends as we shared the good news to others.
We spent our lives devoted to helping spread God’s message of love through Jesus Christ.
I wonder if you know the stories of Jesus?
My name is Priscilla. I am part of God’s story.

Romans 16:3-5 (Common English Version)
Give my greetings to Priscilla and Aquila. They have not only served Christ Jesus together with me, but they have even risked their lives for me. I am grateful for them and so are all the Gentile churches.
Greet the church that meets in their home.
1 Corinthians 16:19-20 (Common English Version)
Greetings from the churches in Asia.
Aquila and Priscilla, together with the church that meets in their house, send greetings in the name of the Lord. All of the Lord’s followers send their
greetings. Give each other a warm greeting.
I wonder…
… how Priscilla felt talking to people about Jesus?
… how it felt to have good friends?
… how she felt about traveling?
… how you feel when you tell people about Jesus?
